Testosterone therapy is a beginning and permanent process of the FTM transition journey. The process starts with revealing gender identity and acceptance of self-identity. it requires a lot of time to accept and when it finally comes to start a new life with our real self, we may feel afraid or something strange. Gender transiting isn’t a common chapter in everyone’s life.

FTM transition journey isn’t the same for every person. Some are struggling and some may be a little. Some people go away from home to start their lives; some may stay home to get help from the family. When a family doesn’t accept us, we may feel sad. Sometimes family tries to take us mental care centre. Some of my friends’s family did the same. So, today we are going to share the process of testosterone therapy. In this process, chest binders help a little bit to decrease gender dysphoria.

What is testosterone therapy?

Testosterone therapy is a life-changing therapy for a female-to-male transgender individual who accepts themself as a man and wants to take the injection to have a manly form. It represents us to show our inner soul physically and match our body with our gender identity. It is a helpful process of FTM transition. It starts with 100mg or 250mg shots every month or twice a week depending on sausages.

Side Effects of Testosterone Therapy

• Voice Deeping: After taking a few shots we may feel the voice crush or voice deepening. It is the first effect that we notice. Sometimes it takes 1.5 years to have full changes of voice. Example: My voice changes after 3 years of taking t-shots.
• Bottom Discomfort: After 6-8 testosterone shots, you may feel some discomfort in the bottom area. It may not happen with all guys. Not every transman is agree with this issue. Nobody tells this openly. But it may happen and it may happen with clitoris growth. • Sex Drive Boost: Before hormone therapy our sex drive was normal but once you take hormone shots, the sex drive is rapidly increasing and you may feel discomfort before night sleep and in the morning when you wake up. You may feel so hard and upset about this. Mood swings are very common during FTM hormone therapy.
• Mental Stress: During HRT therapy, several reports or research said, that mental stress can be increased and it happens with me and my FTM friends. Many of them struggle with mental health. I was sad when I wrote it because one of my close FTM friends died last month(January). Before he died, he told me he was going through mental stress. We suggest every trans guy communicate with a mental health professional because for me you are very important. We have to be ready to fight against the world. Nobody comes to save us. We should make a strong connection with groups and the community.
• Facial Hair Growth: The facial hairs grows day by day. After taking testosterone for 3-6 months, our facial hairs start growing. Not only facial hairs, but our body hairs also grow. Forearm hairs grows after a year.
